Category 3: Music

Are you ready rock out or do you want to slow dance? It doesn't matter what genre of music you want, if you find a good website you can listen to anything! Sometimes it is hard to find a song you like on the radio stations. Several minutes of flipping through the stations just to find a good song can be annoying. These websites let you stream your kind of music, so you can say goodbye to old radio channel flipping!

Music
  • Pandora Radio- A website that lets you make your own personalized stations based on what you like to hear. After you have created then you can jam to the tunes.
  • Emusic- Are you obsessed with downloading songs? Are you tired of paying 99 cents or more for every song there is? Here is a solution! Emusic makes you pay only $15 a month to buy unlimited songs from iTunes!
  • Rhapsody- It's online radio time! Check out what Rhapsody has to offer. Look through music by categories and find what you like. Pop or 80's music?
  • Imeem- How many times have you wondered where the music you are listening to came from? With Imeem you can listen to playlists while you explore the music backgrounds. Who is it by? What are the lyrics? When was it recorded? Imeem has the answers. If you aren't in to that there is always music news to read as well!
  • Last.fm- The world's largest online music catalogue, with free music streaming, videos, pictures, lyrics, charts, artists biographies, concerts, and internet radio!
  • MOG- An essential site for music networking! Share your favs online with a community of people that like the same music as you. Are you not into that? Well, they also have radio streaming for listening and exciting news about musical events and celebrities.
  • Music.com- It is MTV for your computer baby! Music.com shows you all the top ten and twenty and 30, etc., music videos! Watch tons of your favorites!
  • Jamendo- Do you want to listen to your favorite songs without paying a price? Well, now you can. Jamendo lets you download free music for your ipod! Here is the catch, the original artists of the songs do not sing it! You do! Anyone out there, whether it is you, or your friend, or your Aunt Pearl, can sing a song and submit it. Then other people, like you, may want to find these songs. So, put your voice out there. If that isn't your thing, then hear some other voices while your at it!

Okay, now what do I do? I set up my toolbar!

After taking a look at some neat toolbars you probably are proud to find one that fits your needs. Some of you might of gotten a basic one like the google toolbar and some of you might of tried out stumble upon for surfing and exploring. It doesn't matter what you got, as long as you are happy with the toolbar you chose. After choosing the right toolbar you will need to find a collection of favorite websites called favorites or bookmarks. In order for me to find your favorites, I will classify websites into categories according to interest and age. Hope you enjoy the next few posts filled with fun and helpful websites!

What toolbar should I get? Intermediate

If you read my earlier post, I talked about customizing your toolbar just a little bit. In this post I will explain some more. Finding the right toolbar is important. To help you I will list some helpful and even fun toolbars to get you started on your internet surfing journey. The one thing I find important for every toolbar to have is a search option. So if you are going to try others besides the ones I advise, (Which is great you are experimenting) make sure they have search options.
For Any Internet Browser
  • Google toolbar- Lets you search on google without going on to the website first. (Standard and necessary)
  • Yahoo toolbar- Lets you search yahoo without having to go to the website first also. It has tabs that let you check news, entertainment, and stocks on yahoo as well. It is very useful.
  • HamInfobar- Has a built in radio on the toolbar that lets you listen to a station while on the internet. It also has a search engine : )
  • Alexa toolbar- Basic toolbar for searching and finding things you need. It is very efficient and worthwhile.
  • Compete toolbar- Another basic toolbar that can be used for several needs.
For Only Firefox
  • StumbleUpon- Simply click StumbleUpon and it will bring you to a random site according to your interests and hobbies.
  • Glubble- Fun family browser that finds websites that you will enjoy.
  • ebay- Simple, but affective toolbar. It lets you search for items on ebay without even going to the site.
  • Really Simple Sticky- Another simple toolbar that lets you write notes and store them straight inside of your browser. Great if you need to remember something.
* Notice, you probably shouldn't download more than two toolbars. Your browser will get clogged up and look tacky.

What the Internet Really Has To Offer

Some of you may use the internet everyday. Some of you might use it once a month. Whether you use it often or barely ever, I will show you what the internet really has to offer. A lot of people don't have the time to "explore" or "surf" the web. That is why I created this blog. It tells you all about the internet and awesome websites within it, computers in general, and sometimes even other gadgets such as cameras or ipods. I will give you an inside look on what makes the internet so amazing! I will start by introducing parts of the internet. Then, I will bring up websites in categories. I hope you enjoy my blog!
